Cynthia Kadohata's visit

On Friday, October 10, 2008, author Cynthia Kadohata visited South Charlotte. Ms.Kadohata is best know for her book, Kira-Kira, which won the Newbery award in 2005. THe Newbery Award is presented annually by the American Library Association for the most distinguished American children's book published the previous year. She spoke to all the seventh graders about her experiences growing up as a first generation American, the writing process and winning the Newbery Medal. She also discussed some of her other books which include: Cracker:The Best Dog in Vietnam, Weedflower, and Outside Beauty. South Charlotte was able to host Ms. Katohata through the public library's Novello program.
